William Edward Bowen

William Edward Bowen

William Edward (Bill) Bowen, 84, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at Memorial Health.  He was born October 29, 1939, in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Andrew Jackson and Jane Fraser Bowen.  Bill graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of Skidaway Island Methodist Church.  He worked for Continental Can in Savannah, Interstate Paper in Liberty County, and later Brunswick Pulp and Paper in Brunswick. After retiring from Brunswick Pulp and Paper he started his own business, Strong Post Structures. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Fraser Bowen to whom he was married for 57 years.

He is survived by his two sons, Donald Fraser Bowen (Catherine), and William Andrew Bowen (Melissa), his daughter, Rebecca Bowen Boggs (Karl), his six grandchildren, Fraser Stiles Bowen (Tia), Mason Turner Bowen, Lennox Greer Boggs (McKee Steele), Margaret Evelyn Boggs, Evelyn Brooks Bowen, and Woodrow Alexander Bowen, his brother, Andrew Jackson Bowen (Peggy), and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was a loyal and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who was always ready with a joke and a nickname for just about anyone he met.  He was a gourmet cook and avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sailing.  

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10:30 at Skidaway Island Methodist Church, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31411.
